Stakeholder surveys and consultation meetings

Online Survey and Stakeholder Consultations in East Africa

Stakeholder engagement is a key element of the ADVANCE project, ensuring that diverse perspectives, challenges, and opportunities are reflected in efforts to advance social innovation and entrepreneurship in East Africa. Through surveys and consultation meetings, the project promotes data-driven decision-making, strengthens partnerships, and enhances its overall relevance and impact.

In April 2025, an online survey was conducted across Uganda and Tanzania to validate and contextualise the key competences required for social entrepreneurs. The survey targeted social entrepreneurs, grassroots innovators, and representatives from community service and business development organisations. A total of 217 responses were collected from the two partner countries, providing valuable insights into seven key competence areas, assessed through a combination of Likert-scale, open-ended, and scenario-based questions:

  1. Entrepreneurial Competences
  2. Social Impact Awareness
  3. Financial and Operational Management
  4. Leadership and Communication
  5. Collaboration and Networking
  6. Personal Resilience and Adaptability
  7. Attitudes and Personal Attributes

Following the survey, partner institutions in Uganda and Tanzania organised stakeholder consultation meetings between May and June 2025 to further validate the findings and gather input for the development of the ADVANCE Competence Profile of a Social Entrepreneur in the East African context, as well as the ADVANCE curriculum framework.
