Busitema University - Uganda

Busitema University is a multi-campus public University located in Eastern Uganda. The University focuses on relevant and critical study programs in Engineering, Science Education, Health Sciences, Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences, Agriculture and Animal Sciences, Management Sciences and Vocational Training. Busitema University was established to improve equitable access to higher education in the country and as such it has established various entry channel into the university to bridge the gaps. The university runs various programmes ranging from short courses to PhDs.

Busitema University has a mission to provide inclusive high standard training, quality research and outreach for industrialization and sustainable development. Its niche is practical sciences, relevant technology, productive education and innovation for sustainable development. Each faculty and center of excellence has a specific niche:

• Faculty of Engineering focuses on irrigation, mechanization, agro-processing and water resource management among others, all geared towards value addition and competitiveness in critical national development priorities of human capital development and improved livelihood.
• Faculty of Management Science focuses on management sciences, entrepreneurship, tourism and hospitality, and is carrying out research in business survival, decentralization, organizational rationality and behaviour.
• Faculty of Agriculture & Animal Sciences focuses on crop production, animal production and management, agribusiness and soil science.
• Faculty of Health Sciences focuses on general medicine and is actively participating in research areas in malaria, infectious diseases, drug development and discovery from natural products, use of ICT in health, as well as maternal and child health.
• The Faculty of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences focuses on sustainable use of the environment and natural resources.
• Faculty of Science and Education focuses on science education and ICT in education.
