Mzumbe University - Tanzania

Mzumbe University is a public University that operates under the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MoEST). Mzumbe University commenced in 1953 as a Local Government Training Centre for training Chiefs, Native Authority Staff and Councillors. In 1972, it was transformed into the Institute of Development Management (IDM) whereby it started offering certificate and diploma programs in various disciplines related to management sciences. In 2001, it was transformed into a fully-fledged University, named Mzumbe University (MU). In line with the provisions of the Universities Act, Mzumbe University was granted its Charter in 2007. The core functions of MU are training, research, consultancy and outreach services.

The vision of Mzumbe University is to become a leading knowledge institution in management and allied sciences in the local and global contexts by the year 2050. The university has a vast experience in training in management and administration, administration of justice and good governance through a wide range of programmes offered at three campuses – the Main Campus in Morogoro, and the Dar es Salaam and Mbeya Campus Colleges.
