Social Innovation & Entrepreneurship Programme

The ADVANCE Post-graduate diploma programme in Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship includes 6 modules of 5 ECTS each:

• Social Innovation & Entrepreneurship for tackling societal challenges (understanding local needs)
• Designing social innovations (new products/ services that help to resolve societal challenges in the local context)
• Designing a social enterprise (developing business model and business plan)
• Managing a social enterprise (business management processes)
• Scaling up, sustainability, and social impact of a social enterprise
• Variable module: specific to the local context of each African partner university

Each module contains a theoretical & practical part. The theoretical part, in addition to lectures, includes case studies. The practical part is based on the service-learning and experiential learning methodologies, implemented in cooperation with external partners through placements, internships and collaborative projects. The content of all modules taken together, allows students to go through the process of innovation and enterprise creation. The teaching-learning materials includes: lectures, case studies, learning activities and assignments, self-assessment tests, and handouts. The programme finishes with a pitching event, at which students present their Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship ideas to potential investors.
